The STM Care – Doing theater with all families project aims to continue the challenge of making theater a tool for inclusion: social, cultural, linguistic and relational. It starts from theater education and the encounter between professionals in theater pedagogy and individuals in disadvantaged situations and aims to enhance the awareness and improve the quality of life of children and young people who are involved in the project through lectures, workshops and stage experiences. In particular, the project targets children with Down syndrome and minors with problematic family situations. This activity is aimed at intercepting and solving a need for democratic socialization starting from the enhancement of the self, one’s own knowledge and emotions and one’s need to share them in an open and equal relational experience, also becoming a concrete experiential opportunity for social, cultural, linguistic and emotional inclusion. The central goal of the project is to enhance awareness of one’s own being as a subject and as part of a group, as a key step in improving one’s self-esteem and quality of life. This is possible through constructive experiences that make subjects protagonists of the positivity emerging in each and every one through participatory acts of representation and self-representation of their own experience. STM actively collaborates with Dynamo Camp and collaborates with the STH (Struttura Territoriale Handicap) Centers in Galliate and Trecate, the Santa Lucia Juvenile Community in Novara and the Elios Social Cooperative.
